Root Beer Freezes

Hello Woolies!

I hope you had a great Holiday weekend!  Savannah is including a recipe that I have heard raves about – Root Beer Freezes!  They were so good that they made them twice over the weekend.  Sounds to me like a perfect way to kick off into Summer.

Memorial Day is always such a reflective time for me.  I think of those that serve in our Armed Forces and have made so many sacrifices for our Freedom.  Our grandson, Cory, who was serving in Afghanistan continues to recover from his injuries suffered from an IED explosion.  He wants to be a soldier, wants to serve his Country.

Brown Bag Quilt Kit – Kicking off today is your chance to win a “Woolies” kit for the Brown Bag Quilt pictured below.  This kit includes 45 – 2 ½” Woolies Flannel strips.  All the fabric is from the Maywood Collection called “Woolies” and all of the strips are different.  The value of the kit is $42.00 and we will be drawing on June the 15th.  You need to leave a comment or “Follow us” in order to be included in the drawing.  I designed this pattern with a Jelly Roll in mind.  The measurement of the project is 80” X 90” and certainly can made larger by adding a larger final Border.  The pattern retails for $8.00 and can be ordered at our website www.thelittlewoolshoppe.com .

Next Installment of “Snowbuddies” Coming – On June 1st we will post the next Snowbuddies embroidery block.  This one will have a July theme….I bet a flag will be involved!!!  Be sure to check in!!

Hope you will take a minute and whip up a Root Beer Float, sit out on the porch and watch the world go by!!

Mini Moments with Savannah

This week is going to be very busy.  This Friday and Saturday I have dance recital.  I am going to be performing in seven dances.  Of course not all the dances are in the same recital show. There is one recital Friday night, a recital on Saturday afternoon, and one that night. I am going to be in the opener!  I have dress rehearsal  all this week.  So that we will be confident and ready on the stage that we are dancing on.   It is going to be a busy and crazy week full of dancing, make-up, pictures, and fun!
I am a root beer lover! So a recipe that my mom, Carrie, found on another blog is Root Beer Freezes! You’ll love them. They are almost like root beer floats except they are more frozen. I hope you enjoy!

Root Beer Freezes Recipe - (originally posted on One Good Thing By Jillee)

Mix one liter of root beer with one can of sweetened condensed milk.  Pour into your ice cream machine and turn on.  It takes about 25 minutes for our machine to turn this delicious mixture into a frozen slush like consistency.  Best if enjoyed immediately.

  1. OHHH...love the Woolie Flannels and would love this kit.
Savannah...We make a version of your Root Beer Freezes but we use a 2-liter bottle of orange soda, a can of sweetened condensed milk and a can of crushed pineapple (do not drain). Freeze in your ice cream churn. Yummy! If you like orange, you should make it for your family.

  2. This is one of favorite quilts.
My late husband saw the pattern in your shop, he choose all the fabrics. I finished the binding Dec 11, 2012 the day after he died. I will cherish it forerver.
